Royal
May Day in Knutsford is an annual event which dates back
to 1864. The modern day festivals still recreate the customs upon
which it is based, including unique traditions such as 'sanding'
the streets. May Day in Knutsford earned its 'Royal' title in 1887
courtesy of the then Prince and Princess of Wales and today attracts
thousands of visitors every year. This year Katie Smith was
crowned Knutsford's Royal
May Queen. Ladies in Waiting, Emily Bowcock and Hazel
Redhead along with the Court Ladies, Amy Kemshed,
Hannah Cotton, Rebecca Humphreys and Olivia Weatherby took
part in the crowning ceremony. Ben Sanders , had
the honour of carrying the crown taking part as Crown Bearer for
this year.
